Some Scottish geezer who seems to like riding over anything and everything.

Nice riding. Although the railing at the beginning look a little "if you
**** it up, don't do it directly down". When's he due at the Sheffield
    Arena for the Indoor Trials?

Fucking amazing. I love stuff like that - seen a bit of it on
Eurosport, MTV, etc over the years. The kids seem to have taken BMX
    tricks onto full size bikes.

My fave bit is at 3:14

'Ere, Ben - is that a dedicated bicycle trials bike? It must have a
fixed gear, in order to do the backwards wheelie, etc, no?

That's down to balance and momentum, effectively you're stopping the
bike from falling backwards with the pedals, rather than pedaling
backwards. 20 years ago it was piss easy on a BMX, now it's hard
enough making a bike go forward at a reasonable pace.

Yes, to a degree. In some shots he's freewheeling so he's certainly
get fixed and freewheels on the bike for different stunts.

Mostly, trials mtbs are just very small ones, with rigid or very short
travel forks, extra strong wheels and hydraulic rim brakes (lighter
    than discs).

I was expecting to see the Scottish geezer who likes to ride roughshod over the whole country.

The bike in the vid doesn't have a fixed wheel (if that's what you meant).
You can see him free-wheeling in one or two parts.

Or maybe the bike traveling backwards is simply doing what all bikes do and
that's turn the pedals. Given enough speed, if he tries to stop the pedals
    turning, the bike will wheelie.

Yeah, now I re-watched the video, he freewheels along the top of the
wall, before hopping backwards off it. So he must use his momentum
backwards to balance the wheelie backwards, and like you say, the
cranks will rotate backwards, and then he starts pedaling forwards to
    come back again.

Can't help but marvel at how much abuse a spoked wheel will put up with.

    fantastic.

He's got to have some chrome-plated bollocks to learn how to do some
    of that.

Obviously, bicycle tricks considerably predate parkour:

hell yes - some of those bunny-hops would require serious strength.
me neither, which is partly why I was so impressed by it.
