OT Border Morris

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Work in progress, May 26, 2007.

  1. Down at 'Rock at the Lock' today to see my ex b/f's band (12 storey
crisis [1]) play and who should I bump into but UKRM poster Chris
Deuchar and the Black Pig morris team.

Blimey they don't half go at it, none of this airy fairy hanky waving
that TOG and WUN indulge in.

Plus there were women and belly dancing. Cor. Highly recommend going
to see them if you get a chance.

    Diary here http://www.blackpigborder.co.uk/diary/diary.htm not
suitable for those of a nervous disposition.

[1] points for getting the reference without googling

SWMBO came back from the Upton Folk Festival with this shot of a Belly
    Dancer/Female Border Morris/Ripster Mummer[1] trio against a bike
    background:

[1] Huge fun apparently. They bought their own real ducks to take part
    in the duck race.

Teach a man to fish and he and his pikey mates will have the
river cleaned out in a day.

You aren't going to like this, but it works fine in my FF. Is your
    Flash player up to date?

<Waves big stick in menacing way with blacked up face>

Yes Border Morris is worth seeing. Its fast, aggressive and there are
    absolutely no hankies!

Black Pig are based in Nottingham but travel all over the country.
    You can also try;

    www.foxsmorris.org.uk

I dance and play guitar with them, we also turn up all over the UK but
are based in Cookley near Kidderminster.

The black face stuff has its roots in aggressive begging by out of
    work farm workers.

You could also try googling Beltane Morris from Cornwall who always
start by dancing to AC/DCs Back in Black. Or Stone the Crows who are
based near Preston and have been known to rock with the best of them.
There are also The Widders in Chepstow who are a great group of
    people.

On New Years Day TOG refused to dance with us, think he was frightened
he would get injured or distracted by the women in short skirts and
fishnets who were dancing with us.
