    How odd.

    I bought my ex wife a Merc A170 diesel semi auto BTW. Excellent car.
    Rear seats only fit for kids though. She got 55mpg urban cycle. I got
    around 45.

    I must admit I never looked at the Mercs. I had an A series on loan while
    they rebuilt my C class a few years ago.
    The Corsa that SO had was giving just over 70mpg with her driving it. most
    of her journey is motorway.
