Apparently you are buying them below cost. If so it's not a rip off
but not necessarily cheap I'll grant you.
Anyway if that was a criteria how many of us would buy new bikes? I'm
always amazed at the new bike prices compared with new cars.

  3. Smaller production runs, I'd guess. And I can see why you'd pay for a bike,
which is fun. But a *Smart*? They just seem desperately overpriced -
especially that naff soft top one.

Definitely smaller production runs - and possibly a wide model range
    too.

Had a chat Mr Salesman at the local Yaris shop.
Apparently it's called Multi-mode or something, and he couldn't get one if
we wanted it [1], which SO doesn't as she really didn't like the shape!
SO's decided that it'll be a manual Corsa, as she loves the car.

[1] In a timely manner as we need to get it fairly quickly because the loan
car ends when they send her the bounty! Delivery times are apparently cosmic
    at the moment?

    Greybeard says...
Your missus prefers the Corsa to the Yaris? Vauxhall's nailing together
    over Toyota's build quality?

<looks at Greybeard's .sig and remembers what Greybeard looks like>

    That figures :)

The Smart wouldn't stand up to the motorway mileage. A number of (ex) Smart
users around here are testimony to that. One family had 3 smarts and not one
    lasted above 60K!

The Golf at 1.9 would be far too much of a car for SO's needs. There is
nothing to match the economy of the 1.3CDTI she had. Also the VED was
fantastic at 50UKP due to the extremely low emissions.

You'd think the family Greybeard would get the message that the taste
police have their card well & truly marked after recent events.

FFS, stop buying POS as these cultural corrections will start to affect my
    insurance premiums.

Dunno 'bout Mo, but I've always been amazed at how much performance
you could buy for so little money. I mean, 180mph for well under ten
    grand? Fucking bargain.
