....so long as the pub in question was the Coach and Horses, natch.

It's South America, which does have a bit of a reputation for the
    non-expert.

  4. Admittedly, you lot probably can't understand, but: (yank is the 3rd
meaning, in the countries listed - so probably right for Chile?)

Primarily an adjective, but also used as substantive.

"No soy gringo, pero guiri, sí señor".

    "gringo, ga.

    (Etim. disc.).

    1. adj. coloq. Extranjero, especialmente de habla inglesa, y en general
hablante de una lengua que no sea la española. U. t. c. s.

    2. adj. coloq. Dicho de una lengua: extranjera. U. t. c. s. m.

    3. adj. Am. Mer., Cuba, El Salv., Hond. y Nic. estadounidense. Apl. a
    pers., u. t. c. s.

    4. adj. Ur. inglés (‖ natural de Inglaterra). U. t. c. s.

    5. adj. Ur. ruso (‖ natural de Rusia). U. t. c. s.

    6. m. y f. Bol., Hond., Nic. y Perú. Persona rubia y de tez blanca.

    7. m. coloq. Lenguaje ininteligible."

We were supposed to ski on that volcano. Sadly it was closed, but
they're[1] bloody impressive things, for sure.

[1] There's about four or five such in that part of Chile, just
jutting up from the plain a couple of thousand metres. You can see
them, not surprisingly, about a hunderd km away.

Only if the non-expert thinks "South America" consists entirely of a
country or three near the northern end.

    heh - of course.

IIRC, which is actually quite unlikely given the circumstances, the
pub we chose to go to instead of actually making it to the theatre was
    the Coal Hole.

    More fucking irony.

Though, it might have been the Chandos, which would have been bathetic
    rather than pathetic.

It would become apparent that there really *is* no clique.

I know - fucking horrible beer, but not a bad location, you'd have to
admit. Though the litltle run-by-old-ladies pub round the corner is
good, but it's not a pub you'd go in to except by mistake.

Not drunk it for years, but it was a favoured pint when I was in the 6th
form. There again, I used to drink Bass as well, which is quite horrible
nowadays. I think the desire for a quick turnover has ruined many good
ales, as cellar ageing has gone by the wayside. Bring back the flat, warm
    pint, I say...

There's a scene not that disimilar in Mesrine. He ends up negotiating
with the hostage, lowering the ransom.

An enjoyable 70s gangster 'romp' - long film, split into two parts.
