OK, but did you spell it the wrong way on your website?

No, because I was working in Poland and didn't feel the need to promote
    my job on my website.

I think you're forgetting the fact that the OP has gone to a lot of
effort to promote Iceland as he evidently enjoyed himself there. The
fact that he dedicated 6 pages with some excellent photos of your
country should excuse the fact he cocked up on the spelling of one word.

Why don't you do a straw poll of all of your compatriots and ask them
if they're insulted or offended that a foreigner incorrectly spelled a
    place name.

I'd happily ban any use of the word 'fluffy', especially when spelled or
    pronounced 'fwuffy'.

  5. Indeed. Especially as it's just a reformmated pagan festival and Jesus
certainly wasn't botn around that time of year..

No, I appreciated it very much. That is why I went to the trouble to
mail him my corrections and why I wanted him to correct his pages. If I
did not appreciate his efforts I would not have cared.
But instead of understanding my point of view and simply correct what
was wrong he posts a public warning about me.
I don´t know if many would care at all. That does not mean I can´t.

I hardly think it was a public warning, I'd say he was pissed off at
the insult after all his hard work. If he wants to correct his pages,
it's up to him and doesn't need to do it for you.
Stop being so sensitive then and accept the fact that people make
    mistakes.

No, it is not, it´s not mine either. These sounds are still existing
in English and the normal way of transcribing the Þ is by using the TH
    (as in these and the)
Using P in These and The would be quite awkward would it not?

Yes, but getting all upset because some foreigner doesn't know how to
transcribe your archaic terms is a bit OTT, no?

  13. Woman at work is married to a Polish bloke. I referred to "Poles" today, and
she reckons her husband thinks this is now an offensive term. <BLINK>

Isn't the missing point that it's ok, good even, to offend people?

girlie - who was taking the piss rotten out of Indians.

Ask her what life was like in Bangladesh. That seems to upset both
Indians and Pakistanis, for some reason.
