I'm sure we've done this before.
Believing in some social conservatism and disapproving of
farming/slaughterhouse cruelty and the associated abrogation of
responsibility don't seem incompatible to me.

France/Switzerland. Low key Chrissie, lots of grub, skiing the next day.
    Lovely job!

Did she ever re-surface or was it the Blade Runner scenario?

    Certainly sounds interesting and different

Yup, it was Norway last October, and would have gone to Norway again
this year, but decided that it was a bit late - and I really do want
to go when things will actually be open next time!
Something from Mars, I thought - or that awful German series that
was on years ago, about the boy who sold his laugh to some eccentric
    evil millionaire.

Most of the big attractions seem to be further inland than
Reykjavík, so if you intend on seeing a lot of things, hiring a car
may be the best bet - though it's going to be more of an offroad
experience from what I can tell by the reported state of most of the
    roads outside towns.

I'm going to be staying in the town near the airport (Keflavík) -
which is actually a bit smaller than where I live, but there are a
    few interesting things within reach.

The Blue Lagoon seems to be inaccessible by bus unless you take a
trip into Reykjavík first, which the tour company (Blue Lagoon
express) will pick you up from Keflavík specially for. I later found
that there is a minibus run from the town that goes direct to the
Blue Lagoon and airport (also running to Grindavik, I think - the
    other side of the peninsula).
That's much cheaper and obviously a quicker trip as it's direct
(about 8km direct, but I'm now having to go on a roundabout trip via
    the city, which is 50km!)

The minibus timetable can be found at:
    http://www.hotelkeflavik.is/resources/Files/5_blueline_is.pdf

I had initially checked flight and hotel prices via Opodo - which
was the service I used to book the Norway trip last year, but
expedia.co.uk produced cheaper results with a better hotel. I'm
staying at the Hotel Keflavík for 3 nights (They have an offer on) -
    and it's 4-star.

I'm going before Xmyth though (11th-14th Dec), to use up my work
holidays as I'd already planned to go to the US on those dates with
the boyfriend (now ex). The trip got called off, but I still had the
time booked off work - so I thought I'd make use of it.

Some links that may be useful if you end up wanting to stay in
    Keflavík:

(Note on the latter timetable the placename Höfuðborgarsvæðið
    appears to refer to Reykjavík)

up for a couple of weeks already.

  15. I had a friend and his wife who went for a holiday in Iceland, they
really enjoyed it except for one part. They went for a dog sledge ride
over the glaciers and snow fields. He said he was not prepared, while
sitting "tucked in" on the sledge, for the effect the word "MOOSH" would
have on 10 tightly straining dogs arses that has been fed of fish all
    year.

He's posted about it on here, methinks. At the risk if appearing to be
one of Champ's stalkers, I vaguely remember something about a swimming

What's this? A reference to Robert The Bruce and his spider?
Are you telling Champ to keep on trying until he gets it right?

Eh? I found the Turkish people to be very friendly and accomodating,
and I didn't see any evidence of the women being treated badly by the
    men.
I quite fancy a visit there, too.
