Ah there were two its in the post. I was talking about the first, you
meant the second, which I completely failed to notice. Hence the
confusion.

No, see above, I missed an it. I'm saying that the context that you
first hear a song within can colour your perception of that song. In
the case of DLBIA it was linked with the story of the characters in
the programme who in turn evoked emotions linked to their similariteis
to people I knew.

Is that any clearer?

There's also the musician thing - people I know with musical talent
really dislike some songs and bands I think are fantastic, because
they hear them in a different way, filtered through their knowledge
and perceptions.

 

Phew. It all makes sense in my head, but trying to get it down in
