Ogawd, now he was always a prize prick. I used to know him when he
worked for BBC Radio Derby and he was completely insufferable even
then. Did his career eventually crash & burn? Please.

AFAIK he's still doing his old Manchester Evening News column (Friday's
edition, round up of the weekend gigs) and presenting on BBC Radio
    Manchester and Talk Sport.

Sadly for the rest us it didn't.

Try googling and pay particular attention to the wikipedia entries for
details. He appears to be doing quite well for himself.

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate Andy
Terry Christian is ok. He's "Comedy Manc", Noel Gallagher is "A Manc you'd
have a spliff with", Liam Gallagher is pretty well regarded as well.

The old Scousers V Mancs thing is pretty dead nowadays amongst the grown
ups, but Hucknall and some other losers keep trying to bring it up.

  9. The mancs are right. Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindu, the whole
fucking lot of them, each and every god botherer on the planet is twat.

Accompanied by the sound of a chisel on slate The Older
No doubt, and I've got a fondness for some 'Pistols tunes, but Tony Wilson
putting them on TV hardly made them. The Pistols /big/ TV appearance was the
legendary Bill Grundy interview which was less than 3 months later. They
were already gigging in Paris and appearing at Punk festivals /before/
    Wilsons little show.

Music is a subjective thing, everyone has their own tastes, there are
brilliant artists out there waiting to be discovered every day. People like
Wilson who only do it for self-publicity shouldn't be allowed near music..

What - you mean talentless, derivative drivel sold by marketing
    companies to credulous teenagers?

  15. Prog was never the real enemy of punk - most of the prog bands had
already drifted out of the public gaze by the time punk started to
become mainstream (apart from the really big people like Genesis/Yes
    et. al.).

There were (and are) quite a lot of people (like me) who will quite
happily listen to the Undertones one minute and Kaipa the next..
