Pretty much. Ford own Mercury, have done for years. In the states they
used to sell the Capri, with a Mercury badge on it, and the Sierra XR4i
    IIRC.

Pretty sure the rants should be in quotes. Either she's "dumber than
yeast"[1] or it's fabricated to drum up interest in a SOC.

[1] can't believe Bear's been back for a couple of weeks and this
    hasn't come out.

  12. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
"The Boss 260 cylinder block is made from cast-iron for improved
durability under high torque loading, able to maintain tolerances better
than what would an aluminium block. Interestingly, the oil pump is
driven directly by the crank, so the oil pump is working whenever the
    engine is running."
    Quite.

Well I cared enough to post it, but not enough to Google to see if it was
true ... so what does that tell you?

But the Cortina, of any variety, was hard pushed to keep the power of a
    1300 Kent in control.

  19. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
The Mk1 Savage was a beast all right and the home-grown version cobbled
together by many a young loony was even worse.

I remember setting the GSi cruise control at approx 145 mph and leaving it
on for about 2-3 minutes, just to see what it'd average on the fuel
computer. Quite surprised it was still managing 16 mpg.
Me likes Omega Elites, but my big barge of wanting is a Merc 500E. Hence
    buying the 260E today.

A man can dream, can't he?
