I didn't see any of them listed on the web site. In fact they seem to
only include a couple of dozen high-profile cases - if I were at all
interested in doing this I'd much rather it went to some poor schmuck
mouldering in a South American hellhole than one of the well-known
    'Human Rights Activists' listed here.

After all, however unjustified it may be for the people listed to be
locked up, most of them were knowingly engaged in activities which
they knew would likely have these consequences.

  2. I think Amnesty has had a go about that one. They've certainly taken several
    pops at our gummint.

Your accusations of blackmail might well be justified although the
marketing depts of charities might argue that it's immensely difficult
to break through the public's apathy. Also, regardless of the
techniques used the victims remain victims and probably have little to
no influence in the marketing dept's weekly brain busting sessions,
mainly through being unable to attend. Finally it's arguable that it's
not morally any less distasteful then the chronic brainwashing that
occurs on tv, radio, window shop displays or any other manner of
coercion techniques you run in to on a day to day basis.

It DOES however provide a very handy excuse for those that can't be
arsed to involve themselves apart from denigrating it. Ostensibly a
high ground , which is- on anything more than a cursory glance-
    absolute bullshit.

I refer the honourable gentleman to the point raised above.
So let's get this straight, you're saying that I[1]'m attempting to
take the moral high ground while in the same sentence accusing me of
not being able to be arsed to be involved. Sounds like a bit of a
contradiction in your argument there, old chap.

[1] Or anyone else, for that matter, if you're not actually including
    me in that grouping.

Human beings? Hypocrisy? Contradictions? Me, the fifteenth duke of

I swear when I become prime minister of the world one of my first acts

Why don't they get the political prisoners themselves to send cards to
each other? I'm sure they have plenty of tuits spare, and they'd be
better off writing cards than political opinions.

Guantanamo Bay was the detention facility (1) I was thinking of but to
be honest I really only mentioned it because I was tempted to do a bit
    more cross posting.

    (1) I'm trying to do a Blaney and go all merkin with this one.
