Our brothers and sisters who we share so much with, have some very important
and grave decisions to make during this year.. All of us are concerned and
feel the need to correct the bad legislation that affects us as Bikers..
That is commendable and each one of us who have fought the good fight can
appreciate the gains as well as the defeats that we have suffered..Some of
us have sacrificed a lot and put ourselves on the line, many times, for some
of those victories.. During this election year, we have to face the reality
of POLITICS that affect each of us every day of our lives.. Regardless of
party affiliation, the corruption that is being exposed for all to see, is
evident in all branches of government from the Oval Office down through our
state and municipal offices.. The recent discoveries of Rick Perry's sexual
dalliances, are not something that has happened in the past few weeks ..
This man has been this way for many years and SOMEONE was aware of it.. It
is just now being exposed .. In other words, he finally got caught.. Can we
tolerate this kind of hypocrisy in our leaders.. I don't care who the
governor sleeps with, as long as he does his job.. I do care, that the
administration that created him is campaigning to amend my constitution, to
ban marriage of gays and lesbians, while our governor seeks sexual
relationships with other men.. Even appointing his partners to lucrative
positions in our state government.. Embarrassingly, he is a Republican.. I
don't care which party he is affiliated with, he is corrupt and unbelievable
in the credibility department.. I'd be just as outraged if he represented
the Democratic party.. Politics as we know it, has sunk to a historical low,
under the Republican administration that is in power of our state and
federal government.. Tom DeLay, Tom Craddick, Joe Crabbe and Kay Bailey
Hutcheson have exemplified corruption, if for no other reason than they have
failed miserably in representing the constituents that elected them.. Joe
Barton and Pete Sessions have betrayed their constituents with each of their
votes since George Bush took office.. They are nothing more than RUBBER
STAMPS for the Bush agenda..These are not true republicans, my brothers..
They do not represent your best interests nor the best interests of our
state and nation..Tom DeLay is personally responsible for his contributing
to the corruption in our state house.. I remind you of the most recent
exposures of Tom Craddick disbursement of checks to ensure his election as
House Speaker.. That money was provided by the organization that was created
by Tom DeLay for the prime purpose of turning our state into a one party,
authoritarian government, thereby costing us our Balance of Power, that is
assured and has safeguarded us from just this kind of disgraceful takeover..
The president has made his postition abundantly clear.. his agenda includes
the complete privatization of all branches of our government, including our
military.. This agenda is well on it's way to being accomplished.. Witness
the most recent testimony of Alan Greenspan, before our congress and
senate.. He announced that, due to the effects of our present deficit, there
would be no alternative to reducing Social Security benefits.. That
announcement is the forewarning that Bush has lied to us about how robust
the economy is..again.. It is also the prediction that Social Security is
about to become privatized, in order for the Corporate sector to have access
to that money.. Bush inherited a budget surplus when he took office.. That
money has long gone.. So will the Social Security funds be long gone, if we
allow this agenda to materialize..Is this the president that we can afford
to have in office for another four years.. All of us, have friends, parents,
and relatives who depend on the Social Security benefits to sustain even a
meagre quality of life.. Can we sit by and allow their benefits, which they
paid for, BTW, taken from them so that corporations can squander it on tax
refunds for the wealthiest among us.. Those party lines are insignificant
when the issues that we face, are so critical to our nation's security ..
There is so much more to said, and there is a great deal that we have to
do.. I'm sure that this off topic post will not be well received by many who
care to only address motorcycle issues in this newsgroup.. The whole picture
we confront today includes motorcycle issues.. Unless we cross party lines
and address the corruption in our government, there will be no more
motorcycle issues to worry about.. When that happens, we will have no one to
blame but ourselves.. Thanks for your attention..

HEY! Great! Bill's actual topical for this NG. I'm hopeful...
Even though this is starting to stray, there's still hopeful expectation
that his politics will be constrained to moto-activism and remain
topical to the ng in which it's posted.
BUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ! Awww.... and he was so close, too.

Gave this one a little thought.. Needs just a little clarification.. You
seem to be a newcomer on this group.. At least by the "alias" you are
using.. Assuming that being the case, I will be as respectful as possible,
even though I consider you response very rude.. I have posted on this group
for several years and contributed many posts of many different topics..
Motorcycles, politics, legislative, insurance issues and humor.. Many of us
have laughed together and many of us have cried some.. Many of us have
ranted and raged..disagreed, cussed and discussed.. Anyone and everyone is
invited to do the same.. Occasionally the Mark Johnsons and the Who Knows
characters come along and obviously intend to re-organize and/or demand a
"topic" discussion.. If that's your thing, you are in the wrong newsgroup..
As I mentioned, I have posted in this group for a number of years.. I also
post in another group.. tx.politics.. Always posting under my NAME, not an
alias and never anonymous.. I've always posted from the same ISP.. I have a
legitimate e-mail address.. I reveal the city where I live and I ride a
motorcycle.. I usually label my posts if I am presenting something off
topic.. Nobody forced you to come into this group and no one is telling you
to leave.. you are welcome.. Now.. that being said, and in answer to your
smart ass comments about topic, this is an unmoderated group.. Whatever
anyone wants to post in this group is not off limits.. YOU sir, do not
dictate what is off topic or on topic.. Neither does Mark Johnson.. he has
posted on here before and he gets his feathers ruffled and leaves.. He
returns and all is well until he get ruffled again.. You are entirely out of
line with your opinions of TOPIC.. and why people come into this group.. You
are not qualified to make that determination.. Hopefully this clears up any
misconception that you have of me or this newsgroup.. Your choice..

Yes, You are correct it is unmoderated. And I've read your posts, and
know you are indeed on topic alot of the time. Sometimes its nice to
remember why we're really visiting this NG. As for being a smart ass,
I've been called worse... Why anyone is on the internet in general,
still amazes me. As for coming and going on this group, its been years
in and out of TX and motorcycles, so I come and go as I please, you
won't ruffle my feathers. Have a good night, and lets hope that the
weather turns soon, so that the riding will be a little more pleasant...

Bill, I wsa on Tx.Guns years ago and remember when you and some other
folks came in and started trying to turn it into another rec.motorcycles
free-for-all. I eventually left because of the bastardization that was
taking place and the vitrolic reactions by those people when
long-standing regulars asked nicely that tx.moto be saved from the Reeky
Syndrome. It eventually made tx.moto so irrelevant that a lot of people
left. I've been back now for a bit, hoping things had settled down.

I read into your reply that instead of people trying to at least keep
the politics wrapped in moto-content, those who chose to change the face
of tx.moto are now claiming that what is seen is the face that's always
been here; that their perpetuation of the hijacking effort now qualifies
them as the "old timers" with senority. It's neither, bud. It simply
means that most people have better things to do than try to outpost
people intent on ruining a good thing (tx.moto).

There are lots of political forum ng's out there. There's even a moto
ng that's so fucked up that more crap won't make it worse (rec.moto).
Why is it that some few souls think that ALL their posts need to go in
tx.moto instead of spreading the manure out into the pastures where it
belongs so tx.moto doesn't continue to choke and die?

I'm not saying "don't post". I saying that there are TENS OF THOUSANDS
of newsgroups out there; and there are plenty that are an exact fit for
each of your posts. Those that aren't partisan politics and are
moto-centric are interesting for everyone in tx.moto. Diatribes about
political parties aren't. And in this, I am as much to blame over the
past two weeks because I allowed myself to get dragged into several of
these threads. Taking them to Reeky (rec.moto) would be better than
leaving them here since Reeky already reeks.

You got it turned all around again, Mark.. I've never posted in tx.guns or
rec.motorcycles.. I have never cross posted and don't know how.. I responded
in a flame war and attack .. So .. get it right or leave it alone..

I eventually left because of the bastardization that was
I got the picture.. Most of the ones who left were not contributors, either
and most were the ones doing most of the flaming and ganging up on people..
You've still got it wrong.. Seems to me that the hijacking is on the part of
the "topic" police who would dictate what someone talks about.. I've never
interfered with any conversation or told anyone they were "off topic"..

    It's neither, bud. It simply
Well "bud".. I .. for one was glad to see you back on here.. And.. you are
right.. "it is neither".. Ruining a good thing is when someone like you
comes on the group, trolls into a conversation with issues that are hot
button and then backs away to scream "off topic".. Gets hot on here, now and
then.. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.. Again.. I post
into two newsgroup, only.. tx.motorcycles and tx.politics.. I don't cross
post.. I will respond to someone cross posting into either of the two groups
    ... but that is it..
I don't have a comment about how good or bad another group is..
Why do you want to "fix" something that is not broken.? Manure for you may
be fertilizer to another.. There is a lot of GOOD people who use this
group.. Many .. I know personally and have ridden with them.. We disagree on
some issues and argue.. Anyone who comes through, is welcome and treated
with respect.. I don't remember, ever addressing a post to Mark Johnson or
"Bownse".. Some of your responses to my comments on here, invited like
response from me.. I don't care what you think or what you say, unless you
direct your comments in my direction.. I don't care what kind of motorcycle
you ride or how many guns you keep.. Challenge me and I will respond..
And.. who gave you the authority to dictate where anyone posts and what
topic they choose.. Sheesh.. talking about "hijacking".. THAT'S HIJACKING..

Those that aren't partisan politics and are
Nobody "dragged" you into anything, especially me.. You jumped in here with
a "hot button" issue and got blistered..Then you started yelling about "off
topic" subjects.. Don't like a conversation, don't get involved in it..
We've all got little buttons all over the keyboards.. Use 'em..

Taking them to Reeky (rec.moto) would be better than
Again.. I wouldn't know and don't much care.. I have no comment about
another group.. This isn't a social or tea party.. If that is the kind of
group that you need, you may have a problem finding it on Google Groups or
usenet.. None that I know of are monitored and that is a good thing.. There
are, however groups available that do have that environment .. The sanitized
discussions there may appeal to you.. Your choice..

There is no confusion for me.. The only other groups I have responded in
except tx.politics was due to cross posting by someone else.. The incident
you are referencing involved a gang up on someone on this group and I
interceded to even the odds.. Were you involved in that Mark ? I don't
remember ALL the players, but I do seem to recall that it commenced over a
vehicle insurance issue.. Then this group was deluged by a bunch of strange
posters from the gun group.. As it turned out, I was caught up in a cross
posting flame war, that actually became a joke for both groups.. Is that why
you left this group, Mark ? You haven't been back on this group for quite a
month now, and already another "flame war".. Huh.. Those things seem to
follow you, don't they ? Too bad.. Maybe you might want to consider a more
sanitized discussion group that is monitored and restricted.. This being an
election year, I'd suspect that the politics will be pretty prevalent ..
BTW.. I miss ol' One Thumb ..there have been a lot of GOOD guys, come and
go.. Kent Polk is another good one, I miss them all, Mark.. Meantime.. there
is a lot of GOOD guys on here, now.. Oma is one of the good guys.. IceMan is
a friend and contributor, even though he is republican and drives a Ford
pickup.. Elmer McKeeghan is a good guy.. political wizard, as well.. Paul.
down in the fair city of Hearne is a regular on here... definitely one of
the good guys.. I could go on, but maybe you get the idea.. There's also
quite a few assholes that only wanna play games and flame into hot button
issues.. But.. that being said, they may be good guys.. They are much like
you, Mark.. they come on here, do there thing, get their nose out of joint
and leave.. Their choice.. Yours too..
