I want an oscilloscope to be able to test alternators [1] and because
they've got wavy lines, they're great..

Ebay has them, what type do I want, what type to avoid, how much etc. I
honestly have no idea in this department.

Any one got one to sell, cheap?

[1] I mentioned this a few days ago and now I want one..

If that's all you want to do, anyone of those on Ebay at present would do
the job, with about 99% of it's useful functions left over! Follow the
Telequipment D61A dual trace, it's on £8:50 at present. I have one. It is
22 years old and is still pretty accurate. Calbration is also a doodle on
    them.

I mostly use a Fluke handheld, much more convenient.

I've got a mate in Surrey who deals in s/h scopes. email me on jmbyrne at
something like blueyonder.co.uk and i'll put you in touch.
He will also teach you how to use them properly.
I use a parallel port Picoscope tool. www.picotech.co.uk

    Goldstar OS-9020A
    20MHz dual-trace, all leads included.
    Hardly used, dry miles only.

I'm not too keen to sell because I know I'll suddenly need it a few days
afterwards and I just like having it in my room but if you're passing
through Tebay[1] and have a spare £200 floating around I'd be happy to
see it go to a good home.

    [1] junction 38 of the M6.

What sort of value would you put on it? A sort of max bid guide.
