Just tarting up the Pig and among other things, I've bought a couple of
pairs of clear arrowhead 675 accessory indicators with orange bulbs.

Are these legal in Queensland and are the bulbs readily available in Oz?...

Mate, if orange bulbs in clear lenses for blinkers is the best "advance"
of the 21st century, I think I'll just go and slash my wrists now.

talkin to a cop on one of the 4wd forums - if they come with them, yes
they are legal... if they dont come std with them, hope the cops dont
    have the shits that day.

There are rules which clearly define the parameters of what is or is not
legal. Isn't that a test of visibility of the indicator which is a
certain colour, a certain intensity when viewed from a certain distance
while flashing a certain number of times per minute... and exactly how
it achieves that is not tested, or relevant in whether or not it passes
the test. The whole "it's standard therefore it's legal and its not
standard therefore it's illegal" thing sounds like a lot of bullshit,
[not to mention this might be the first time biggus has ever
acknowledged that a cop had something useful or honest to say so make
    sure google archives this thread.]

The instructions say that they're to be screwed on...

I've only got two nuts though.

They're genuine Triumph accessories for the 675 range. Have had a squiz
at faired and naked 675s in the showroom yesterday, they come with
conventional (reflector type as in lots of moulded-in prisms) but clear
(not orange) lenses, whereas the accessory ones have clear, as in no
    prisms, lenses.

Apologies for the clumsy description, I'm sure there's a better
description for these things but I've only been home from work for an
hour and haven't had my third coffee yet.

    http://tinyurl.com/24p8b4 <---Them's the bits I bought.

Once again, kudos to Jack Lilley's for getting a long list of obscure
bits to me at a bloody good price and in double quick time. Ordered on
the 12th, invoiced on the 16th, at my door on the 21st. Legends. The
local dealers aren't within cooee on either the delivery times or the price.

No, it's not bullshit, or it used not to be. Back in the '70s it was legal
for me to fit an air-horn to my VW because VW sold them as an accessory (I
didn' have to buy theirs), but illegal to fit one to a Phase III Falcon
because Ford didn't have an airhorn on their shopping list.
