I loved the twin-shock R65 (the Brembo brake one with the extra 5bhp
and the lower weight), and loathed the Monolever version.

Reason: the old R65 had a short-stroke crank and was *so* sweet. The
whole bike was ever so slightly shrunk in the wash. The Monolever bike
was just a sleeved down R80. And it was detuned as well. So: a nasty
    Monolever R80 with less power.

The 100S is a lovely bike when it's in good fettle. *When*

Indeed, the Mono's have the K type front end as standard.

  12. I love the comment about trying to start it anyway and it thumped into life
and ran like a watch. This is one of the things I like about the old
boxers... Mine's the same, leave it standing for months, push the button
(and provided the battery isn't flat) it just starts. no farting about at
all. and mine's not even in all that good condition.
