    Well that's just silly.
Y'know what - I really *do* know when I'm going to need such a thing -
    never!

I'm not entirely innocent in this matter myself

Well, um, yeah, but sometimes you hold onto stuff "because it might
come in useful". I can see myself buying another Honda OHC 125 single,
for example, and ditto a CD200 Benly. I've even bid on another GT750
recently. And my MZ addiction is incurable. The Trophy grab handles:
    yeah, fair cop, mate.

    Although
With SOB parts, the longer you keep 'em, the more valuable they
get :) For example, really good used OE 400 Four exhaust systems
used to fetch around £200-250, but then the new price jumped to about
£450 and so excellent used ones now fetch £300-350.

Trouble is, most of my stuff comes into the category of "too shagged
or obscure to be useful for anything other than hardcore".

Indeed - a few years back I thought I'd done well getting someone to
agree to give me 90 quid for a mound of old X7 bits so I was well miffed
when he never turned up with the money. Had no joy on ebay so I tried to
freecycle the bits with no response at all.

Last year I advertised "miscellaneous X7 bits" of Gumtree and, between
there and an X7 forum, they've done >300 quid. If I get another 50quid
for what's left then that's what I paid for both the X7 as a legal
runner + for the parts bike. Mind you, bought them in the early 90s so
there's 15 years financing costs to consider before I can really claim a
    profit :)

The LC bits have seen a nice uptick in value recently as well - although
on the downside I've been buying Laverda spares & they've gone
    stratospheric.
