    A 4WD being used for child transport to and from school? I believe
    that karma was responsible for the vehicle breaking down all the time.

    I know someone who built a bicycle frame with a belt drive. Only
    consideration was that you can only build the frame once, and you have
    to build it around the belt (don't weld until you're sure you haven't
    tangled the belt up!). He was hoping for about 60k km if I remember.

    Buell had a fantastic idea with their bikes (or at least the XB12X I
    owned). Belt went through the swingarm, which had a removable section.
    Changing the endless belt was a roadside repair which could be done
    with the bike on the sidestand. Didn't even need to remove the swingarm.
