We're off to Tassie. 5500kms in 19 days, hence the name. Jen has toured
before, and now she's got the VFR she's looking forward to it immensely. My
furthest trip has been a weekend to Byron. I'm sure this will be extremely
    "character building" on the Fizzer.

We looked at the options, transport the bikes and fly, take the Spirit from
Sydney etc. All had pros and cons, but I decided to bite the bullet and ride
the whole thing. If we're going to do it, I want to be able to say I did the
whole thing. We leave on Friday, and I expect my bum will be regretting that
    decision sometime Sunday afternoon.

Jen has been planning the trip for weeks, sussing out all the accommodation
and touristy options for the trip. Basically its a pretty cruisey 4 days to
get to Melbourne, 10 days in Tassie and 4-5 days to get home.

On the way we're doing Mt White, Reefton Spur and of course the GOR. I've
been noting with interest posts about crook roads down there and forwarded
    them to Jen.

In Tassie there's heaps on the itinerary, but it includes Port Arthur,
treetop walk, 4 wheel motorbike tour of Cradle Mountain, a jetboat ride in
New Norfolk, and lots of twisty roads. Any advice, observations or smartarse
comments on the state of Tassie and its attractions are welcome.

SO if you're on your favourite bit of twisty between here and Tassie in the
next few weeks, keep an eye out for a fluoro orange FZR trying in vain to
catch a red VFR. Anyone who wants to meet up, email me offgroup and I'll
    send you the details.

Last October, I did ~2500km in 9 days around Tassie, after taking the
bikes on the ferry, and it was easily doable as far as comfort goes,
    and that was on a 96 ZX6R.

Most days were only about 270km because we were doing lots of sight seeing
along the way. The longest was 375km because we went to Strathgordon which
is near the end of a long dead end road.

Our lap went clockwise and we comfortably did it in 8 days, with an extra
day left over before we went back to Devonport.

Tassie s great fun on a bike - you'll love it. Just ask glitch :)

You'll be fine, you just need to average about 300km per day (my
round-Aus trip was 20,000km over 60 days, so it was much the same).
Bah! Here, eat this spoonful of cement and harden up! ;-)
It's good to be able to just tag along, I had a similar pleasant
    experience between Xmas-New Year's.
If you're stopping by Canberra from either direction, give us a couple
of days notice and we'll put on a National Dinner for youse. ;-)

Sounds like an excellent trip Dave.
I heartily recommend a detour through Canberra, Cooma, Adaminaby and the
Snowys down to Tallangatta before heading for the Reefton too.

    Dave,

We did a week in March last year - we loved it all. A couple of "must do"
roads are the B34 from Swansea to Campbell town and the A3 from Scottsdale
to Derby. The rest of the A3 in the north wasnt too bad either.

We are going back in late March this year to do the west coast.

Enjoy your trip - ride safe.

You might need to fit a snorkel for one portion of the trip. :p

    Hey Nick

I've been thinking about the ride to Strathgordon. Was it worth the ride?
    Was there anything to see?

    Cheers

Of course it's worth the ride, and you can see a bit of Lake Pedder. It's a
great road - sweepers all the way.

    Did you get my email?
