Yesterday, one of our engineers wrote of his van and very nearly himself
(closed the A404 into High Wycombe all morning).

The van got dragged off to the recovery yard, so it was arranged for 3 of us
to meet there to retrieve all the tools..
The MD phoned me asking for directions, as he was just up the road I said
i'd stand out on the side of the road and wave him down.

I spotted his red mini cooper and stuck my hand out, just as a bloke on a
sportbike made to overtake him and 3 other cars. Biker chap had just wound
up to about 2 thirds of max beanage when he spots me, dark trousers, white
shirt, dark tie stood there with me hand up.

His decellaration was as impressive as his accelleration, and he bimbled by
very steadily. I was creased up, I am sure he mouthed "****" at me as he
    went by.

I did feel ever so slightly guilty.

Doesnotcompute fascinated us all by saying...

Heh, lucky doesn't even come close to describing this guy.
I attended the scene to find the van embedded in a tree.
Seems it took 20 mins to get him out.
I went to A&E and found him laying with a neck brace on and loads of tubes
and wires sticking out of him.
After a thorough check over seems he has broken nothing, and is just a bit
bruised and scratched. They kept him in overnight and he went home
    yesterday.
When I went to retrieve the tools etc I found a 36" stillson wrench in the
drivers footwell, which apparently flew from the back of the van, just past
    his head.
Not a good week thus far as you can imagine.
