I've just had my entry confirmed for the TransWales MTB race 2006.

    http://www.mtbtransuk.co.uk/

7 days of off-road racing across Wales in August, 50km - 100km per
day. In a way I was hoping the entry wouldn't get accepted but it has
now and the deposit is paid so I better start some serious training.

Eek. I did the Selkirk Merida 85km event in July and was totally
knackered (wasn't eating/drinking nearly enough early enough). Doing
that 7 days on the trot is beyond me. Good luck though!

In 2004 I did 3 of the Merida events, and 2 the year before so I have
a pretty good idea of what's involved.
Building up to it, obviously. Start serious training now, do 4 100km
Merida events in April, May, June and July plus the Hell Of The North
Cotswolds in March and I should be ready for it.
Cheers, I'm going to need it.

I think an mx bike might make a bit more sense. Anyway the GSXR will
be sold to finance a new mtb to do the racing on. No way I'm riding
500km offroad on a hardtail bike.

Well, I had a choice between the TransAlps, TransRockies and
    TransWales.

I thought I'd go for the foreign one.

Just getting started really. Find that 100k is quite a long way when
    you're used to 50k rides.
