Only that it's been superseded by the S5500, more MP, better features etc,
and a drop in price. Gotta be good.

"So far Howard's luck has survived a great deal: his move to dismiss
broken election pledges by distinguishing between "core" and "non-core"
promises; his retrospectively time-limited "never ever" pledge on the
goods and services tax; his vagueness about when he committed Australia
to war against Iraq; his shifting standards for ministerial conduct; his
demonising of asylum seekers as child killers; his tendency to blame
"advice" rather than to openly accept responsibility when things go wrong."
Will Howard's luck survive another election ? Do Australians not care
that their PM is a liar ?

One thing to consider xD ram chips are about 20% dearer than SD or CF -
SD is barely any bigger than xD.

Then again RAM prices are dropping fast - I paid $190 for 256Mb xD 10
months ago, I paid $54 for 256Mb SD 1 month ago...

The 10x zoom is good stuff and you can get some great pics with the 7000
    - looks like the 5500 is the same camera with a lower res ccd (could be
wrong) if so the lens quality is pretty good and it's reasonably
intuitive to use if you've used an SLR.

Huh ? Wasn't suggesting you buy it, but the 5500 is fundamentally the
same camera - newer release with the 10 zoom instead of the 6x and a 4mp
ccd but otherwise seemed the same (both specs and interface)

the thing I cant work out is why they are going up in MPs but going down in
    optical zoom,
    you cant beat good optics!!!

looking for a 4MP+ camera with 10x optical zoom and a shutter speed of
    1/4000 min
you think I can find one???

all the 10x optical ones have either 1/1000 or 1/2000 max shutter speed

all the camera with shutter speed above 1/4000 have less than x7 optics

s7000 is one the list(1/8000 6x), Minolta A1(1/16000 7x) is on the list, but
if I was happy with 1/1000 then a cheapy like the Olympus c750(1/1000 10x)
would do, get camera for the $$$s

its all in the optics baby!!!

    and no....not going SLR
