Just had this years cage tax reminder through and it has suggested
that I can order next years tax online and they'll send it in the
    post!

You can also register your SORN too.

How long has this been around?

I see they have FINALLY put a link(indirect) from the DVLA main page to the
    relevant site.
When I tried to use it earlier in the year, you had to guess that you needed
    to be at
    http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/ Tossers.

And it doesn't necessarily work for all vehicles, either.

I tried to tax my bike, gave up after 20 minutes aggravation,
'phoned the next day and was airily told that some vehicles
can't be taxed online, and they can't be taxed by 'phone either,
and I'd have to go to the Post Office.
