    what a load of cock
I cannot tax my sorned bike to commence tomorrow (1st Feb)
as the online thingy wants to back date it to 1st Jan
even though there is no way the tax disc could reach me anytime
before tomorrow (and even then I presume its 5 or so days later)
I guess its a computer kinda thing but ffs
Can I ride my bike to work tomorrow with the intention
of taxing it later in the day ?

Of course you can. Just don't get stopped or pass an ANPR camera.

Stay up a few hours past your bedtime, and tax it after midnight?

When I un-sorned my son's bike last month it offered me the choice of month
(this month or next). This was on the 18th of the month so I'm surprised you
    weren't offered the option.

    hmm odd
This bike I bought privatly and the bike was sorned already, so I did
nothing except get the new V5 in my name
I presumed it continued to be sorned automatically? maybe this has something
    to do with it?
    will try again tomorrow anyhow.
