If you think that somebody is spamming, you really shouldn't quote the
url in full, you know - this repeats and propagates the spam, see?

Silly boy. Now off you go and play.

  6. It could be to illustrate what he thought *should* be done if he considered
    it spam.
It does not necessarily follow that *all* URL's obscured by Pip are spam, as
    illustrated above.

    Your go. ;-)

Was it Col. Mustard in the study with the sock full of pound coins?

  8. Yes, but you must consider...

o Pip likes to show posters what they should have done by editing their
    posts.
o Penguins have an organ on their forehead that de-salinizes water.
o Pip edited Paul's 'spammer' post as he presumably felt Paul should have
    done.
Or we could just ask Pip.

That's true and a good point, twas early for me!
Anyway, still spam but a lesser degree hence my mumble as opposed to the
    spammer offering services last week.

That, my friend, can only be described as bleedin' sensible, looking
at the other side of this thread. D'oh!

I had spam for me tea last night. With egg and chips, obviously. I
don't have any written proof though.

If you can wait for long enough, that is.

Right then. I'm not about to wade through all the maze of logical
argument above, so my take on it is this:

The chappie from the "online bike magazine" posted his url several
days ago and received the usual array of responses. I had a look at
his site then and tbh, wasn't bowled over - but he's trying, which is
more than most of us do. I don't think that he's making money out of
it - if he was asking for money to view his site I would be less than
    impressed.

I don't think that he is spamming in any definition of the term, but
he has made a repeat post without any other involvement with this ng.
I consider that he could become an irritation if he continues in this
vein, starting his (possibly) weekly thread, posting his url and
buggering off again - but this is what killfiles are designed to
    eliminate.

My reply to DP was intended to remind that in the case of spammers
(real, nasty fat men wearing lots of crap gold jewellery, smelling of
Brut or Old Spice) the url they post should not be repeated. I
obscured the url as an example, even though I don't think matey is
spamming - for if I hadn't, DP may well have asked (with
justification) why I didn't remove the url in my reply.

Trust me, if I had seen matey's post as spam I would have said so -
and if DP had re-posted a real spammer's url I would have been
    significantly less polite to him.

Now if you don't mind, I'll just go away quietly and re-insert my head
up my arse - it's getting chilly out here.

My Father managed to foist on me 2 bottles of Old Spice[1], on seeing
my brother later the same day he saw the offending bottles in the car
and was amused that I'd got the blo*dy things since he'd avoided the
    gift.

When I was about 22 I was seeing a girl of 16 and she loved the smell of
Old Spice. If I wore it she'd get all damp in a gurlie kinda way and I
was in for a good time.

I wore it quite a bit around that time, until even I with my fucked up
sense of smell, could stand it no more.

I knew another, rather common and 'free with her emotions' piece of
totty, who would almost rape you if you were wearing el cheapo "Hai
Karate" aftershave. Nice girl, if a little lacking in morals and good
    tatse.
