online furniture people

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Adrienne M Jenn, Jan 13, 2004.

  1. Having moved I now need some new furniture. I'm looking at pine
bedroom stuff, in particular a double bed, wardrobe & set of drawers.

Ive been looking at www.limelightdirect.co.uk who seem reasonable and
    deliver free to bedfordshire.

    Can anyone recommend anyone else?

If I may disagree with you there Mr Cab. We've just finished our kitchen
using almost exclusively Ikea stuff and for the money I think its bloody
good stuff. I would be nice if they could deliver it when they say they
    will mind.

Except they don't deliver unless you go to the store and buy it and
    they don't do online ordering.

And their online catalogue doesn't show all their stock.

I keep meaning to suggest we have a ukrm drink there, and then I keep
remembering it's members only, and then I keep resolving to join, and
    then I keep forgetting.

I've got an Ikea kitchen and bathroom (put in by the landlord before I
moved in), Ikea wardroves, Ikea bookshelves, Ikea sofas (two huge
ones) and various lamps and stuff. It's all excellent stuff, imo, and
    amazing value for money

I've had problems with wrong parts in kits; screws being too soft and
the heads being fucked at the slightest turn; split panels and wood
knots filled with plastic wood, like they've been done by a spastic
    chimpanzee.

I've not been too impressed. Mined Ewe, maybe they farm out all the
    shit stuff to France? :)

If you're going to buy MDF boxen, which let's face it, is what most kitchens
are unless you go to somewhere like Smallbone, you might as well get them
from Ikea - they have as good a range as anywhere else, and they're not
robbing bastards like Moben. I'm not sure I'd trust them for something like
    a sofa, though.

    [of Ikea]
My sofa came from Ikea and it's fine. OK, it needs a damn good clean
or recovering after nearly 10 years of me eating my dinner while sat
on it, but other than that it's still pretty comfy.

I've also had a couple of bookshelves, chest of drawers and a computer
desk/workstation thingy from them and they've all been very easy to
assemble and good value for money, IMO.
