google but would like some really good un's.

As in reviews of bikes you can buy in Oz?

    Good luck!

Motorcycle Rider has some reasonable impression type short pieces on
bikes that aren't cutting edge sportbikes.

The mainstream mags have 5 page wankfests on how fast a bike is and
how so much more wonderful than anything else it is, with never a bad
word spoken about any bike. Providing it's a cutting edge sportbike,
or possibly a BMW GS, if you want more than 1000 words on anything
    else forget it.

Narrow down your choice to a couple of bikes by what you like about
them rather than what the reviews say, then find a mailing list for
that bike and join it. You'll soon learn the good and the bad.

And if it doesnt do a lap record round the Island their "test track"
it aint worth a mention of more than a few lines.

Name me any car/bike/4wd mag that ever says something is a true hunk
of shit anymore? or even if something is below average... it just
    doesnt happen

The pommy rag Ride does can stuff. But they don't do new bike
reviews, they do used bike ones, getting various owners to talk about
the bikes, as well as riding them themselves.

problem is that a lot of what they have, gear and bike, isn't what we
    get here which is annoying.

I'd love to use their gear tests to buy riding kit, but they don't
    test what's available here.

hmm i saw something the other week on tv about the holden barina
    which is the old daewoo

the reviewer basically said just because you change the badge on the bonnet
doesnt change the car or make it any better

Its simple Nev, before I part with approx 28,000 I am going to find out as
much as possible about the bike. Are their flaws that will come back and
bite me or any other reason to avoid this bike.

I like the bike, enjoyed the Test Ride but want to know more before spending
    that much money.

Well, you don't want to read websites which provide reviews. Reviews
can be very biased and uncorroborated. If you know the bike you want,
join an online forums devoted to that bike, where people are discussing
it, not reviewing it. Then you'll be able to see the differences
between potential 'flaws' and personal preferences.

I have already found the forum for the K1200 series and have asked questions

looks like I will be getting it but the decisions now are on the options ie
ABS , ESA, larger windscreen, sports trye, panniers etc etc

no no no.. asking questions is not the way to get the information you
want, because then you're just asking the converted to convert you, and
they'll gloss over the imperfections in order to convince you that the
decision they made is the correct one for you. You need to read
through the technical sections of the forum and look for any evidence of
flaws or failures that other buyers have encountered (and how they have
    been dealt with).

Have gone through a lot of posts but it all came to nothing . My first
opinion on the Test ride was the one that convinced me and now just waiting
for delivery......the 1150 has now gone

So after all that you just took my initial advice and just make your own
mind up and bought the bike.

I saw and read enough to confirm my initial views and that was the
    difference
