I want to put some extra crankcase breathing on the B44 but I'm
concerned not to get shite pulled back in to it. Does anyone know where
I could get a one way valve to fit to the end of a small dia, eg 6mm
    ID, plastic pipe?

Most aquarium suppliers have this sort of thing for a few pence.

  3. Or, make a Bunsen valve. Block the end of the pipe then cut a
shortish slit lengthways near the end, say 1-2xdiameter long, with a scalpel.
Probably works better in red rubber than plastic, though.

I shoulda looked on ebay to begin with. There are all sorts of
    non-return valves on there.

In answer to Champ, there's unlikely to be the build up of shite one
could expect on a racing machine which is likely to be stripped down
regularly. Mine won't be (crosses all available extremities).

I also read the vacuum created in the crankcase after the gas is
expelled helps pull the next stroke down.

  5. But it would also sap power from the rising piston, so it's a zero sum
game. Another thing to consider is that if the 1-way valve sticks in the
shut position, you'll get a build up of crankcase pressure which might
    pop your crank seals.

Why not just stick a crank breather filter on it? K&N make them,
    amongst others.

Most crankcase breathers vent into the airbox so that the vapours and
blow-by gasses etc are burnt in the engine. this vent is traditionally
downstream of the air filter, so there's not too many chunks of airborne
crap floating past the end of the pipe.

I use an arrangement whereby the vapours are passed between the piston
and the cylinder wall and vented via the engine exhaust valves.
