Daz isn't fairly local to you, Dave, you moved down South, remember?

Brum is just north of Watford Gap, therefore it's in the frozen
    wastelands of the north.

But Brum is rather too close to Wales for comfort.

For whom, the Brummies or the Welsh. IMO they deserve each other.

Not seen it, but the reviews I read/heard weren't exactly glowing. I
think Mark Lawson said it was a book "of its time" that "didn't work"
    when translated to the screen.

I enjoyed reading it when I was at school but wouldn't describe it as my
favourite Spike Milligan. (That's the sad one with the ballerina.)

The honour of favourite book "that hasn't been read for a while, seeing
as I've mentioned it, I might re-read soon" is "In Dubious Battle" John
    Steinbeck.

Where is this pub? In relation to me it's likely to be north, but how
    north?

    Not too far then.

If it's going to be shown, let me know the date. Having a supply of
DVDs, if they're as good as you say, would probably be a top idea.

If it's the pub that I think Dave might mean, Hunsdon.

I wasn't taking the piss, Brighton - Harlow is only 170 mile round trip.
Not even a tank of fuel. Less than a trip for the BOTAFOT or about the
    same a Sarratt.

But I'd be happy to take up the offer.

  18. About two miles north of Harlow, Essex

Thankfully, it's actually over the border in Hertfordshire

  19. Not in it

There's actually quite a few good beer pubs around here - but they're
all hidden in absolutely tiny villages
