One month to go and I can take off the L plates

Some time ago I posted here when I was looking for a motorbike having
    just got my learners.

Well, I'm still on my learners, for one more month, and I thought I'd
let you know how things went. If you're at all interested :)

I had seen a Honda VT250C Custom Cruiser advertised on the net that
looked just like what I wanted. For a week or so at work, I would sneak
a look at the picture when I got bored waiting for the computer to do
    something.

So one week after getting my license (at Calder Park - great bunch of
blokes - had an awesome time) I was at the dealers with my wife and
daughter in tow looking at the bike. The guy comes out and asks if he
can help and I tell him straight up that I have only had my license a
week and I've only ridden for four hours and can I take it for a spin?
He was really cool about it all and said sure! So I hopped on board and
it felt fantastic. Just like I had imagined it - in that wierd creepy
deja-vu kind of way. I started her up and carefully took her around the
block - getting used to her slowly. I guess I must have gone around the
block a dozen times and I know I had a grin on my face so wide as to be
unnatural. So yeah, first bike I looked at and first bike I rode I
bought - and you know what? I haven't looked back yet.

So far, in two months, we've done 2500km together - Arthurs Seat, Pt
Nepean (twice), Mt Dandenong, Phillip Island and to work and back every
day. I can't get enough! I wake up in the morning and the first thing I
think about is taking her for a ride. I really should have done this 20
years ago when I first thought about it :)

I'm learning to service her too. A mate of mine has worked with bikes
for many years and is showing me the basics. I haven't serviced a motor
vehicle since my first car. I mean, I open the bonnet of my car now and
I have no idea what I'm looking at, but the bike is a thing of beauty -
quite simple yet at the same time utterly fascinating.

I'm Chris and I'm addicted to my motorcycle.

  2. And so begins a wonderful tale that will hopefully go on throughout the
    years.

    Welcome to the ear-splitting-grin club.

You know I think your enthusiasm might bring me back to the basics of
motorcycling enjoyment that I've sort of left behind - don't get me
wrong, I just dropped $16.5k on my dream bike, but alas I've become a
Sunday rider only & bit of adrenaline junky compared to when I started
    out 19 yrs ago on a DT250.

Still I do have some trips planned, to the Snowys and SP at Phillip
Island to wear down some rubber.

I've been addicted for 50 years, but only been riding legally for 42.
