Heh, life in a northern town ...

They're all a bit funny Out West. Carlisle is hugely cosmopolitan by
    comparison.

Indeed. West Cumbria, where men are men and women are too :)

What fun we Carlisle boys had in our late teens, heading out west to
the Moota nightclub - a former POW camp that had retained much of it's
wartime ambience. Drag artists, wet t-shirt competitions, girlie mud-
wrestling, psychotic bouncers... those were the days. It could only
have been better if we weren't in constant fear of being ripped limb
from limb by the local neanderthal young farmers who envied our fancy
    footwork and silver-tongued chat-up lines.

I think it's partly derelict now, and the half that's in use is a
garden centre. As for "ambience", that's what the locals get taken
away in after a few too many pints of Stella and a fight. If you got
away from this place, well done.
