one of those and one of these
    http://slumz.boxden.com/f22/can-am-spyder-1370184/
were present at the hotel I used in the Vosges.

Hideous things ridden by a hideous Dutch couple. The female pretty much
    matched darsy's obesity criterion.

Well yeah, but no more or less than any other Trike, Shirley?

I have a certain respect for home-made ones using particularly unlikely
engines, like the Saab one I've seen at Avebury a few times.

  7. A lot of trikes are bought/made by people who've suffered an injury and
can't risk another one, or who've lost limbs of part thereof.

    Think NABD.

  8. "Anyone with any experience on one? Really thinking about getting one,
but I don't have much experience on bikes. I'm wondering if this rides
like a traditional sports bike or does it handle differently."

It's a trike, FFS. what do you think, you dumb septic?

I hesitate to ask this, but the criterion is what?

Sure, I'd go along with that.
    Eh?

    <looks closer>

OMG. They've left the original rear wheel in. OK, so _now_ ISWYM.
I honestly don't see the point of either. If you want a car, get a
    car, FFS.

The point of the Can-Ams is huge amounts of fun on wet roads. I'd love
    one.

Or simply people with families who enjoy going out on the trike a a family,
and like to keep attending rallies with their kids, and who also ran out of
    space in a D/A outfit (1).
I've got 2 road bikes, 2 trail bikes and the Guzzi 5-seater trike and I
enjoy riding the trike just as much as the others. Horses for courses I
    suppose.

    (1) which I absolutely hated riding.

I posted up something along these lines ages ago. Bloke at work has one.

    Fucking horrible it is.

Good point. It's not a trike though. It's got 4 wheels.

  16. Wotcha.
And some of us were fortunate enough to own one before injury made it a
    necessity.

It looks like a pretty real conversion to me and either way, it won't have
    cone cheap.
    Looks pretty similar.
I think a lot depends on the owners physical abilities or fear factor.

Those "training" wheels automagically retract when the bike starts moving.
They're there to stop it falling over at a standstill, but the bike leans
like any other when it's under way.
