  1. That is gorgeous. Retro digi. I love it.

Can't figure out what the crank lever actually *does*, though.

heh - Cardboard box? Luxury mate, LUXURY!

    I feel your pain, brother.
The only thing to do is to make your camera earn you some money.
It wouldn't take a year to earn the £500 your camera has depreciated in that
same year - even if you only did it part-time.
Heh - I'm sure you're right. Nikon are certainly lagging behind.
But to be fair it hasn't stopped Nikon digital bodies being the preferred
body for most press photographers - largely because of the high frame rate.
Canon seems to have cornered the sports market because of their fast
autofocus & image stabilised lenses but now their mid-range digital bodies
are starting to feature 8fps I should imagine they'll appeal to the press
    market too.

I've got one of the original, non digital, size of a house, circa < 1940
    versions of those.

Hopefully one day it will be worth something :)

I'd settle for them making the EOS300D even cheaper ;-)

Any suggestions on this Sorby? You seem to have got well into it in a short
time after ditching the IT game.

It's something I'd love to do, but probably not full time :)

    Guess one needs a market...

(some equipment would be good too :-D )

I'm not 'all that' at photography - but it has been a hobby of mine for 10
years - so it seemed sort of obvious to give it a go.
By far the hardest part is the business side of things - admin, networking,
marketing and time-management. I'm rubbish at most of these.
I'm not doing it full time - when it's raining I build bespoke CM systems
    for my web clients.
Yeah - my main market is equestrian events/competitions - but it has quickly
expanded into portraiture, promotional work, etc.
The only sort of work I've turned down so far is weddings.
Ideally I'd like to do race & trackday photography (bikes / cars) but having
rung around a bit it looks like there are few openings.
    Heh. It would help, yes.

There was scepticism about it actually materialising over in
    rec.photo.digital up until quite recently.

I want one, I *need* one. It'll produce files of around 12Mb for a
JPEG, and ****-knows how much for a .tiff from a RAW. 100Mb+? (I get
40 Mb files from the 300D) And with a 16-bit image, that's a lot of
processing power req'd. Looks like the 3Gig P4/1Gig Ram/200Gig HDD PC
being delivered on Friday ain't going to cut the mustard for long. ...
More than enough pixels for all but the largest of prints. I'm
sticking one of these on my XMas list (as well as a stocking filler
    20D). ...

Well, it doesn't, other than satisfy the desire to have a truly retro
    user experience, IYSWIM.

dwb was seen penning the following ode to ... whatever:
Depending on condition and exact model they are actually worth
    something now.
