  1. I've got a Givi rack for a B12 with most of the fastenings missing.

I can easily bodge most of it but there are a two things I can't bodge
    so easily.

Namely spacers/bushes to slot over bolts.

A spacer to slot over an M6 bolt: 14mm long 10mm external diameter.
A spacer to slot over an M8 bolt: 22mm long 12mm external diameter.

Steel would be best. It does need to be strong.

I've tried places that sell standoffs, & all my local fastening places.

At a push I could just use a pile of washers (I think most pipe would
be too thin) but I'd rather do it nicely and buy them off the shelf.

Anyone know somewhere that will do this kind of thing without a 100
    euro minimum order?

Did you go to the parts counter and ask for a "long standoff" ? ;-)

    B&Q. Seriously!

The sell tubing in there, in various lengths, which you can cut to
the size you want. Take a couple of each bolt you need sleeves
for and see which ones fit.

I used it to sleeve the 620 engine, which takes an M10 bolt, down to
use the 600 engine's M8 bolt, rather than arsing around with drilling
the frame and buying a new bolt. For a 1/2 metre length I think it
was about 3 quid or so.

    HTH,

Givi sell fitting kits quite cheaply. Ask at your local bike shop or
    another Givi stockist.

  5. I take your point but I'm a little reluctant to throw away a perfectly
good fitting kit when all I need is two pairs of spacers that are
    probably worth 3p each.

FWIW I've talked to Givi and the kit is £70 quid and they don't sell
    spares for fitting kits.

No need to throw it away, I'll give you a tenner for it and as a bonus
you save 12p on spacers. Can't say fairer than that can I?
Another 70 quid you could save.

At this rate you will be a wealthy man by half past seven.

    C'mon, a tenner?

Woo. They used to do just the nuts and bolts/spacers on their own. 70
    squids is a bit much.

send me a snail mail address and I'll turn a couple up and bung them in
    the post.

Steel will corrode so you'll have to paint them. Are you sure they're
load-bearing? Ally won't corrode (as much) and wouldn't need painting.

    Dear <Toad>,
I am very sorry but having asked the questions for you I have been told
in no uncertain terms that we are unable to supply spares for these
kits since they only come complete from Italy,
    Very Sorry

Nuts and bolts, of course are no problem. Just bog standard metric
bolts. But there were few things that would have made my life at bit
easier and these two collars that I don't fancy doing without.

  11. Hi,

That's a big yes, and much appreciated.

Have responded with answers to your questions and a snail mail address
to the address in your header with the letters 'me' replaced with 'co'.
Somehow I don't think that's right. If not could you mail me to give me
    something to reply to.

    Many thanks.
