Daughters laptop screen goes blank then comes back on when she moves the lid/ screen any ideas whats wrong with it likely cost to repair the lid does seem to have some play in it thanks steve --
The ribbon connector between the base and the screen panel is probably cracked. If it's a common make you may be able to get a replacement connector from Ebay or online spares places. Phil
May be an internal switch to detect when the lid closes and switches the screen off? Could be worth dismantling the case and cleaning it out with a tin of compressed air to remove any build-up of dust. If there's an external switch (like the little sticky out bit here: http://www.ixbt.com/portopc/g-max-n-411/buttons-big.jpg ) then it still may be iffy - give it a press or ten and see.
There will be an "umpteen" way connector from the LCD Panel connecting it to the Laptop's Motherboard. This will normally be your culprit. Either the connector won't be seated correctly, or the cable will be damaged. Normally pretty easy to fix if you know how to get at it.
tried going down the desktop route before i bought her the laptop little cow wouldnt have it and as both of my girls can twist me around there little fingers i dont bother arguing any more pitty the poor bastard that marries them --
