    And all their Leffe.

As UKRM is my witness I made a start on this righteous crusade last time
I was out there. I shall not give up until we are victorious. Men and
women of all that is good and right, join me in pinishing the frog-like
    infidels!

    I am discussing exactly what we were discussing at the start of this thread;
the passing into _law_ of matters that have been _custom_ for some time.

At the moment the _custom_ is that _some_ French schools do not permit
personal displays of religion. The recommendation is that the _law_ should
forbid obvious religious items, while allowing discreet ones.

  11. And Harold's bunch who lost in 1066

If the Norman Conquest didn't result in an "occupation", then I don't
know what else to call it.

Des's grasp of history is about as secure as his grasp of an R1
    twistgrip.

  13. Mind you, Des of course will argue (correctly) that "UK" doesn't mean
Norman England and (incorrectly) that this was what he meant all
    along....

Dunnit? What bits didn't we occupy then? This is important cos
according to what I know about the Baron he could go out and claim new
bits as his if no other Baron had been given them.

I bet it is something like Scotland. If it is then bollocks to them, I
don't want it, snot worth the effort of invading.

istr Andrew Neil, on his Politics Show thing, say that the Dept for
Media, Culture, Sport and General Arseing About, have decided against
any religious symbolism on their Christmas Cards this year.

I'm obviously missing a point here, but isn't there just a smidgen, an
inkling, of religious symbolism involved in sending a Christmas card
    in the first place?

    Salad Dodger, Dec 13, 2003
  17. Well, if you take "UK" as being an abbreviation of "United Kingdom of
    Great Britain and Northern Ireland"....

I'd advise the Baron to stick in a claim anyway before the Taffs and
Jocks devolve entirely, and the Paddies degenerate into open civil war,
    and grab his share sharpish.

Yeah. Great innit. All I have to do is send a couple of suitable
Christmas cards and listen to the Queens speech and I can have two and a
half days off and that is official.

Now, as I see it, our society is made up of many religious groups of
which I am not a member.

    When is Divali?

    steve auvache, Dec 13, 2003
  20. Well, it still isn't, so I guess not.
