Explain to me again how somebody wearing religious insignia in any way
presents a bias to other people's education.

Kids generally don't care about religion anyway.

I went to a school that was about 35% Muslim, 40% Christian and 25%
other religions. The kids that got picked on weren't picked on because
of religion but because they were cheeky, or scrawny.

If anything I think it's a good thing that people with different views,
religions and beliefs mix together from an early age, and get an idea of
each others differences, rather than ignoring them.

Maybe then people would be more tolerant of things like being born a
    ginger, for example.

I'm no expert on child psychology, but instinct steers me towards
completely the opposite view - that children should learn from the
earliest possible age that there are kids of very different races,
cultures and religions, but that doesn't mean that they're not still
just kids, just like them, to be treated just like any other kid.

So then, diversity is good as long as you haven't got to look at other
    people being diverse?

So, expulsion for wearing cross shaped jewellery?
And I what about satanic tatoos?

Well the correct tense would have been:

    S'wot I thought.

You have to remember that rather a big part of France threw their hat in

Oh, it sounds like a fine *wee* place.
What are you talking about? I've never seen anything untowards at any major
Orange Lodge or Black Preceptory event (1). Well, apart from some serious
drinking around the former that is.

    (1) excepting where a particular route is curtailed or there is external

    dixit Ace:
wrong, as i said ^^ up there somewhere. children *need* to learn that

    1. other people don't necessarily have the same religion/culture
    2. this is not a bad thing.

in fact it's a good thing, diversity is almost always a good thing from a
    genetic point of view.

more kids are harassed at school because their mum can't afford to buy them
the latest gear from ${latest_fashion_label}, and shops at lidl, than are
persecuted on the basis of religion. if stasi were really trying to reduce
persecution, he would introduce compulsory school uniforms. however, this
just procrastinates the time when children are forced blinking out into the
reality of a world that has people with different mores, and means they
won't be able to deal with it (and won't be able to learn to deal with it so
well either, as any developmental psychologist will tell you).

So nothing much to shock him then, damn but he must be sensitive shy and

Another point being missed here. So, you take their headscarves etc. off.
Like they are still not going to make it really obvious what they are? bad
law, pointless law, should be ignored.

I think this is such a slur that the UK should boycott French wine, prevent
all British tourists from taking a holiday there and demand their ejection
from the EU. We've made a start in Iraq after all.

It would be fun to declare you were completely agnostic, acknowldged no
religion at all, and rocked up to school with a pair of monkey skulls
attached to your belt, as part of your "cultural heritage".
