No it's entirely relevant, I'm saying it's fucking lunacy. Suppose they
decide to change that to wearing a red and green sock? you see where it
    leads.

    Your a Scot? bloody 'ell
To be fair in Scotland and N.I. school segregation is allowed, indeed the
Taigs insist on it. That should be abolished tomorrow.

Your now living in a country which indoctrinates their school population as
    well of course.

I have to say that the level of religious bigotry I have seen in western
Scotland far exceeds anything I have ever seen anywhere else, including
    Northern Ireland.

  5. Oh aye. It doesn't bother me at all - in fact, if I had any kids here,
I'd quite happily send them to the local school; all that would concern
me would be the standard of education (which, like everywhere is
variable, but mostly good) and that my hypothetical kids would be free
to use their Proddy lineage to bunk off for a couple of religious
    periods each week.

I wouldn't go that far but it is bad. When you allow Catholics to segrate
themselves from Primary 1 up what can you expect. I would say that it is the
    no.1 reason for the problem.
They also lay down a lot of shit at family level about relationships. I can
remember being chucked out of a girls house at age 16. 1st question her
parents asked was which school I went to.

  7. To be fair, it might be less now than it was - but it was pretty bad.

I do - but he would be banning red and green socks as badges of
religion, not simply as articles of clothing. I agree the result is
the same but the motive (albeit possibly still wrong) is very
different. Most schools have rules about which clothes you may or may
not wear - nowt wrong with that.

Now had you given shoes [1] as an example I would have had to agree
    with you!

Most of them were curiously enough and as a group they made up 25% of the
128 class. Strathclyde Uni has a Malaysian annex apparently.

    LOL
Isllamaphobia, it's racism by another name but then hardly surprising coming
    from France.

I mean they are just so cuddly and their wool is so soft. I just don't
    understand it.

  13. I was told by an old friend in France that the original 'commission
report' was instigated by leaders of the Muslim population in France
complaining that their children had to be subjected to going to schools
where there were 'crosses' everywhere and the other pupils wore
'crosses' over their clothing which 'all in all' the Muslims found
    offensive.

I think the outcome is rather poetic.

  14. An Italian mayor had a local law introduced banning fat and ugly women
from being on the town's beach in anything other than full dress.
He got lots of complains and a lot of local support.

  16. I was amazed to find that supporters of Scottish (and other clubs for
that matter), when they have the name of the club on the front of their
woolly hat have either Celtic or Ranger name on the side just so to know
what side they're on if a fight starts.

  17. "signs rammed down their throats"? So does that
give nudists the right to demand that no-one is allowed to
wear clothes as they object to "having it rammed down their throats"?
Or does it mean that people of African origin are not allowed to wear
the clothes style that they grew up with because someone objects to
    seeing people wear robes?
I know - I'll start complaining that I hate having people wearing
anything red round me! Yeah! No-one is allowed to wear red!
Yeah right. Open your eyes Des.. Just like there is
    no anti-Jewish bigotry in France.
But it is perfectly acceptable for the state to
discriminate against them on the basis of their religion?

  18. Wrong. Religion is another stick that ignorant, stupid and evil
people use to beat others with. If it wasn't there then
they would use another stick (race, hair colour, launguage etc).

The problem is human nature and bigotry, not religion.

  19. So why are people still allowed to wear crosses in school?

  20. So now who is being racist? "I don't think that the English can" sure
    sounds like it to me!
