Well yes, I can see why you'd rather say that but you'd be wrong.

1769. Buenos Aires captain general Francisco Bucarelli instructed by
Madrid to drive any British from the Islands; 5 ships and 1400 men sent.
Later British allowed to return to Port Egmont, but right of sovereignty
    retained by Spain.

This shows that since the British did not hold the sovereignty of the
Falklands/Malvinas at the time they signed the Nootka Sound Convention.
Therefore they had no right to the Islands, QED.
You took the words right out of my mouth.

Get your facts right and better luck next time ;-)

Nice attempt at laying a smokescreen over your ignominious defeat in the
    Falklands campaign there TOG. :)

[1] One of the less savoury jobs he had during the war was on things
they called Q boats. They looked very much like ordinary large fishing
boats, even down to a largely merchant crew, but were in fact armed to
    the teeth.

Apparently, they came out of Southampton one day and the Captain thought
it would be a Jolly Good Idea for Leading Seaman Auvache and a few stout
yeoman type chaps to take a skiff and a few sticky mines and row into
the nearest French harbour and sink the German fleet.

History has it that 2 minutes after hearing what his daily duties were
to be my ole man was in the brig on a charge of mutiny and threatening a
senior officer with a fucking good thumping.

But not, IIRC, in accordance with Rule 306a as no Yanks present.

    LOL!

TOG's unilaterally changed the rules of engagement and gone for the
invasion of Reeky armed with a gun thread.

  7. Not an invasion. Not a war. Not a conflict. Call it, erm, an armed
    incursion.

On reflection, I tink that would have been my old man's preferred
option, rather than being carted to sick bay, having the best part of
100 stitches in his right leg resulting from a shrapnel wound,
received when the Graf Spee expressed it displeasure at being chased
    about the S Atlantic.

Kin foreigners. There should be some rule about them not being allowed
    to fight back.

I dunno why they bother in the first place, it is not as if they are
ever going to win is it?

    Quality.

My Grandad was one of those who lost a game of footy to the Bosch on
Christmas Day 1914 on the Somme.

He got a bollocking for that too, even though it wasn't him who let Hans
    get past the defence.

Well, I wouldn't want to embellish the story. His unit got pulled back
from the lines for a while, before they were sent to a different part of
the front. They were given a dressing down for fraternising with the
enemy, rather than for losing the match.

    Have a read of this:
