  1. Yes, the fight at the barracks resulted in no Brit fatalities (some
injuries), but some losses on the Argie side; mainly materiel but some
    human casulties.

Grytviken gave the Argies a bloody nose and it was only when they moved
in a destroyer or summat that the Marines there surrendered.

But I quote the figures from the Insight team's book. I assume they're
accurate[1] but they may not be, of course.

[1] This was the team that exposed the "cash for questions" scandal[2],
    so it should be accurate.
[2] Using the fake drug Sigthin[3]
[3] An anagram of Insight :))

  2. Me, too. During Gulf War One I was wondering whether some bold Iraqi
would fly his jet on a one-way mission to Western Europe, bomb whatever,
and simply eject. I'd have given him a medal.

These days, of course, they *would* do it with the simple difference
    that they wouldn't eject.

I think it goes much wider than this.

    A single currency

    Legislation on product safety

Rules about who can grow what products and farm which animals

*discussions* working towards a European Constitution

I could go on but can't be arsed.

Basically it's the fore-runner to a Federal Europe (IMO, natch).

Bullshit. They wouldn't have brought their navy out of port once the
Task force was within striking distance.
Great, unless your son or daughter is among them.

    And what does that prove?
I hardly think sinking a ship is disproportionate to them invading a UK
    territory.
You think so? - We had to show we meant business, and it was _very_
    effective in that respect.
Shit happens. Under the circumstances it was a bit of a result.

But it seems that if it was your decision we'd just have left them to
    it.

Would the same also apply if someone came and invaded the mainland? - if
your answer is yes, then perhaps you should be living on the other side
    of the channel.

  14. This is fact.

Unless you think the Argies went ashore in bathing costumes, clutching
their rubber rings, and challenged the Marines to a game of volleyball.

And you said the argies couldn't shoot straight. Jeez.
Thers a good Anglo-Saxon name to conjure with.
You accused the Argies of *starting the shooting war*

So who started shooting? I'd guess that according your statement as to
the number of rounds loosed off, it was the Brits.

Don't forget that in the initial invasion, there were *no british
fatalities*. Whereas, there were *several Argie fatalities*

Come on Mr Fact Man. Get it straight

    ffs.

    tallbloke, Jan 2, 2004
  16. According to the Insight book, they did.
No, that was just the Brit tally. God knows how many the Argies loosed
    off.
So the Brits shot better. Hardly surprising, given the pitiful quality
of most of the Argie land forces (as opposed, most definitely, to their
    air force).
I have made no errors. You, however, have jumped to the conclusion that
the Brits started the shooting purely because I quoted a figure for
    number of rounds fired.

That is the non sequitur to end them all.

    FFS 'tallbloke', give it up.
I have been standing over there >>> and your defence, which was already
weak, has now been shot to pieces.
The fucking Argies started it, we finished it and some people got killed.
It was a WAR, bad things happen.
