That sounds plausible. I don't know enough about it to comment, but I thought that the different reactions of HMG were noteworthy. -- Tim two#21, YGL#3 & BOTAFOT#84 Due to the limitations of current email, the lip movements may be out of synchronisation as you move your finger under the text while reading. tim dot ukrm2 at dsl dot pipex dot com

I think this is the case for the Brits living on Tristan da Cunha. I dunno if this is the case, but thought I'd get me tuppenth in.

Sad but true. It's odd to work in a place where some of the top management are so incompetent one considers ripping their still beating hearts out. You still on hols today then!
IMHO Momentary Lapse and Division Bell are bloody good albums. (The Older Gentleman) spouted the following in See my other post. The Japanese Ambassador was trying to get an audience with the septic Brass before the Enola Gay took off, but they just made him wait in an ante room. Shameful. or as Hog said, the worst sin.
The lyrics: Darkside: "And you're off and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking racing around to come up behind you again the sun is the same in a relative way but you're older shorter of breath and one step closer to death every day is getting shorter never seem to find the time plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way..." WYWH "so, so you think you can tell heaven from hell blue skies from pain can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? a smile from a veil? do you think you can tell? and did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? hot ashes for trees? hot air for a cool breeze? cold comfort for change? and did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? how i wish, how i wish you were here we're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl year after year running over the same old ground what have we found? the same old fears wish you were here" Animals "And when you loose control, you'll reap the harvest you have sown. And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone. And it's too late to loose the weight you used to need to throw around. So have a good drown, as you go down, alone, Dragged down by the Stone. I gotta admit that I'm a little bit confused. Sometimes it seems to me as if I'm just being used. Gotta stay awake, gotta try and shake off this creeping malaise. If I don't stand my own ground, how can I find my own way out of this maze ? Deaf, dumb and blind, you just keep on pretending That everyone's expendable and no one has a real friend. And it seems to you the thing to do would be to isolate the winner. And everything's done under the sun, And you believe at heart, everyone's a killer." Well, I find them depressing. Or they reinforce depression and alienation or something.
Well I bought Division Bell on tape when I spent a lot of time driving. I couldn't stand it. Thing is I've been listening to Floyd since around the time WYWH was released I'd guess and whilst the two you've mentioned might be good the one I heard didn't gel as Floyd. I'm just being old and conservative.
Maybe, but isn't it one of the overall good type questions? If the benefit to the UK as a whole outweighs the harm to the Gibraltarians then tough. Personally I'd offer them a free house in Scotland and sell Gibralter to the Spanish. I'd also offer all who didn't want to stay in Northern Ireland a free house in Scotland and have given it to Eire though.
Maybe they had their sense of proportion a bit bit better judged then, if they could achieve the objective without shedding blood. Anyway, what I'd like TOG to repond to, is my point that It wasnt Argentina that started the shooting. Furthermore the escalation of the sinking of the Belgrano led directly to the Missile strike on HMS Sheffield, and no amount of whining about french weapons support will alter that.
I think they started that when they invaded the bloody place! And - your point is? It was a war - sinking the Belgrano had the ultimate effect of keeping their navy away, hence saving a long and messy battle. For only a total of 1000 men to be killed on both sides is pretty remarkable, given the circumstances.
spouted the following in Fair enough OK. I disagree with the image of me that you portrayed. I do get fun out of taking the piss out of the privately educating classes, but that doesn't mean I have a chip on my shoulder about the quality of education I got. (Registered engineer, HND Mech and Prod, B.A. Hons Phil/HST) Nor do I feel inferior bcause I was born and brought up in the north of England. On the basis of the prejudice I see bandied around on UKRM, quite the reverse in fact ;-)

Can't say I blame you... What's a 'registered engineer'? Do you mean registered with the Engineering Council on the Incorporated Engineer register? Do you take the anti-norther stuff seriously?
