Is it very small, or just a long way away?

    It's enclosed by the crosses.

    Apparently it was very foggy.

For me the shutter speed is fine, sufficient to freeze the bikes and even
the wheel spokes but still giving some speed blur to the background.

It's difficult to frame panned shots and most compositions don't conform to
    the 4:3 ratio.
All the pics would benefit from cropping, to a greater or lesser extent.

It's all completely subjective of course but personally I prefer
wheels/spokes unfrozen. I tend to shoot 1/200th and slower when.
Gavsta was shooting at 1/1000th and faster (or at least he was in the
    ones I checked).

Some were slower, but my panning leaves a bit to be desired (I was
stood on top of a wall), and they wernt that clear, so reverted back
    to a higher shutter speed.

I have just thrown them up there, so yes, there are a couple that
could have done with a crop, or a bit of adjustment!
