Book a table? I thought you were just meeting for a few pints! Sheesh.
If you went to a proper pub, you wouldn't need to book a table.

What's wrong with a decent pint of ale and a packet of pork
    scratchings, eh?

so you know now that it's a bar/cafe rather than a "pub".
Kwak comes in a sort of test-tube/wooden retort affair, if that's what
    you mean.
    heh.

as a bonus, as I have a VIP client meeting tomorrow until 6:30, you'll
get to see me in a suit and tie.

Well it's obviously not a traditional pub, no. I'm still surprised you
would need to book for a Wednesday night.

    It's a shame I can't make it as I haven't been to a London drinks
before. I might still try and rearrange some stuff and "do a simonk"
(as in I could turn up but don't bank on it)
    That's the one, yes.

I've never been other than on a Friday night, but you always need to
book on a Friday, as it's fucking heaving. And it won't do any /harm/
    to book for Wednesday.
    Fair enough.
not a bad drink, though I'm more of a Duvel or Leffe Radieuse man
    myself.

I was there on a Tuesday evening in January with the two Ks (you might
have been there as well, I can't remember) and it was pretty rammed. Not
to the point that we couldn't get a table, but others had less luck.

there used to be one of those on Ludgate Hill (The "Bell, Book and
Candle"), complete with a tree growing from the basement level through
the centre of a spiral staircase upstairs, and the barstaff were all
    20-something goths.

    It was fucking shit.

It's completely changed now to an anodyne pseudo-pub called "Ye Olde
London", which has almost exactly the same atmosphere as the
"Traditional English Pub" in Disneyland, Florida.

Oh aye, they're awful. But if you want green drinks in test tubes,
they're just about the only place in town. IIRC the last time I was in
The London Stone they had recorded moans and wails playing in the bogs,
the doors to which were disguised as a bookcase.

    Tragic.
There's a "British pub" in the West Village on Manhattan, complete with
red phone box outside. I didn't dare venture inside to see what it was
like. Same shit, at a guess.

The Jekyll & Hyde? If so, I've been there. A terrible place indeed,
but the means justified the end...

  16. I'm in London on Thursday, if you're venturing out then I may travel
    down tomorrow instead.

You've probably booked already, but agree it's a good idea. It gets busy in
the week. I might be along.

Anyhow, I thought you hated the place?
