How come Derbyshire Police *know* that the feller whose body was found by a
member of the public off the A50 on Tuesday (22nd June) crashed on the
    evening of 6th June?

The relatively precise time of the crash would indicate that they knew of
the accident/found the bike, but failed to conduct a proper search of the
    area.

Bit of a bastard if he wasn't killed outright and just starved/bled to
death/died through infections caused by multiple fractures over the
intervening 2 weeks he was lying by the side of the road, innit?

Seems that he went off the road without anyone seeing him go as neither him
nor his bike were found until two weeks later.

There are lots of ways to establish the date of an accident.
eg: asking around to find out who saw him last, checking bank statements for
the last transaction, a cinema ticket in his pocket for an evening screening
or maybe he had a mobile and they checked the phone network logs.

No one reported him missing - isn't that sad? Gone for 2 weeks and no
    one noticed.

  6. It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
He probably couldn't reach a stick to wave his helmet on.

I think that applies to me also, my folks would probably notice I'd not
called after a couple of weeks, mind.

I dunno. I think if a regular just disappeared with no trace and
couldn't be contacted electronically then someone would probably try
and find out what had happened to them.

That's right. On two or three occasions I've dropped round to see
Overlash to check he's not dropped off the perch. The last time,
iirc, he'd been too busy growing tomatoes to read ukrm.
