Been pottering about the various bike manufacturers' websites to get a feel
for what's out there at the moment... you know the sort of thing, make a
sensible check list of what it is that you actually want from a new bike
then instead head straight for the supersports models to gawp in amazement
at their power to weight ratios :)

Anyway, I got around to going and taking a looksee at Triumph, being a bit
of an 31337 d00d with this here interwebby thing I popped my cursor into the
URL box, typed www.triumph.co.uk and hit the enter key.

Up came the page, and then it threw up a popup advertising page...

    By bliminy!

    Triumph Rocket III
    2,294cc
    Just the three cylinders
Shaft drive (so it can't wheelie then <g>)
No doubt the SOB will need every one of those 140hp just to pull away, it
looks like it weighs about as much as your average family car!

Feck sake, when I were a lad such things were the stories you made up with
which to hoodwink your mates :)

Presumably Team Triumph have an emergency forklift call out service incase
    you ever drop the bugger?

A-bloody-mazing (mind you, what's that Boss Hog machine thingy? I've seen a
few of them... seriously ugly, but in a '**** off and die you pawper scrote'
    kind of ugly way IYSWIM).

Can I recommend the Speed Triple. Incredibly easy to ride, and much
    fun to be had IMHO

    <snip Triumph Rocket III>

They've made it especially tasteless to appeal to the American market.

With a 2.3l engine and only a 25 litre fuel tank one assumes that they'll
find themselves stuck between gas stations in short order no?

It'll be in stiff competition with a truely tasteless bike of our own
design, you may have heard of it; the Harley Davidson.

The one I saw at the NEC seemed pretty understated in black. Especially
in comparison to the tarts handbags that are the average live to shop HDs.

Or was the one I saw the home market version? Is there a special US
    leather chap edition?

They don't do Uturns, they have a reverse gear for that sort of thing ;-)

I quite like the look of them. And with a mill that big, it's verging
on the kind of big boys toy the V-Max could have been.

I've just had a read of AndyR's 'voices' thing on ukrm.net about the future
of bikes and if you think ZX10-R, Trumpet Rocket III and Ronnie, it's a
    bit freaky.

You posted it here IIRC. I don't think I'm welcome at the San Jose
Hilton any more after parking that SNB [1] in the entrance.

Is this of any interest to you? I was hoping to take advantage but
    it's USA only.

I just put a new set of BT 010s on my SV, but thanks anyway.

  18. American here .... and oh, does it appeal to me.....!

  19. Given that you didn't include any context, we are left wondering exactly
    what appealed to you.

    A small beggar child?

    A talking dog?

    The Eiffel tower?

    A giant phallus?
