It's interesting in that it seems to be hitting only some market sectors
    right now.

I was going to say, the level of skilled people is pretty desperate
across all trades. There are a few companies now that are accepeting the
value of quality, well trained staff, and they just aren't out there.

It went to live in the U.S.
That's the second. Neither from acts of war/terrorism. Both from
    heart attacks.

These things come in threes. Cut back on the stress and booze chap.

    Very happily.
Well, there's no booze here. I do have stressful things, but I seem
to handle stress differently to many people.

    There's no accounting for taste.
At all? No 'on compound' relaxation?
    What methods?

I've been eerily calm since last week, then had a fecking awful night
of nightmares last night. And the last 6 revels out of the pack all
being orange or coffee has not improved my mood at all. I want toffee
    damn it.

    Alcohol is illegal in Kuwait.
Dunno. I just don't seem to "worry". I realise that some things are
important, but not so important that they keep me awake. Sometimes I
lay awake for, oh, five minutes, before getting to sleep - but that
tends to be me getting my thoughts in order. I'm always aware that I
have a lot on the go, but it never freaks me out.

I get a little tetchy sometimes, mostly when other people have failed
to deliver on their promises. I attribute that to tiredness more than
    stress.
    I like them best too.

But all the expats seem to brew their own. Went to a nice little Polish
beach party in Kuwait last year.

I also thought there was some sort of exemption on alcohol for hotel
residents? I never got the chance to find that one out for myself
    though.

Oh yeah, there's some floating around. Personally, I'm not too fussed
about drinking someone else's homebrew; you never really can be sure
what's in it, and it rarely tastes good, ime.
Not in Kuwait. In Qatar, yes, and in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

Of course when the whole country is only the size of Devon it doesn't
take much to drive over the border. Although BBQs in Umm Qasr might not
    be your scene either.
In that case I'm glad I never bothered with a hotel.

    No indeed.
    Dubai rocks a phat one.

What's your opinion of Kuwait then? Sorry if you've mentioned this
before but I haven't noticed if you did.

s'alright. Good climate. Better variety of restaurants than Doha.
Mad driving a big plus on the entertainment side. No booze, but I can
live with that. No MotoGP track. No tax.

I had actually forgotten about the driving thing until you said that.
*Everyone* cuts everybody else up but nobody gets stressed about it,
that's just the way things are done. Their attitude to road safety is
pretty relaxed but there didn't seem to be too many accidents as a
result. I think their habit of leaving wrecks at the roadside for
several days is intentional as some sort of safety message.

Camels ratchet strapped into pickups is an image that will stay with me
    for some time.
Unfortunately I was still taxed by UK IR.
