    Hi folks.

As those of you local would have known, the Old Road, from Cowan down to
the Hawksbury River was seriously fucked up by the apparent random
application of some horrible tar sealer.

Some time ago I lodged a protest about this to the RTA, and yesterday I
got a reply, which went like:-

"Part of the Old Pacific Highway, just north of Cowan Railway Station
    will be resurfaced shortly.

Other areas of the Highway will be resurfaced following the current
slope stabilisation works being carried out."

I wonder if/when it will happen.

    regards,

This started happening noticeably about 7-8 years ago in Victoria.
Councils stopped employing their own road construction crews and started
tendering out jobs to the lowest bidder.. who accordingly provided the
    lowest quality.

I can think of a few instances where, on hot days, after a few cars had
been down them, the road surface in the wheel tracks would start to give
an appearance of melting or turning into liquid.

Those roads all needed to be resealed again, so I suppose the
contractors involved in these shonky road building exercises all
improved their game, or went out of business. Haven't seen too many bad
road repair jobs around in the past few years.
