Old Pacific Highway

Discussion in 'Australian Motorcycles' started by Andrew McKenna, Dec 29, 2008.

  1. Heading up from Canberra to near Gosford next week, avoiding motorways
    and freeways if I can. Can I get from Berowra to Gosford on the old
    Pacific Highway, or has it been closed?

    Canberra --> Bungendore --> Goulburn --> Oberon --> Katoomba --> Bell
    --> Bell's Line of Road --> somewhere --> somewhere --> Berowra --> Gosford

    If you want quick and easy and not much spam [freeway] at the end of Bells
    Line take Richmond Rd from Richmond to the corner of the M7, turn left off
    the m7 on Pennant Hills Rd to Hornsby. Stay left to avoid the F3 freeway
    through Hornsby and then up the old road.

    The much longer but more interesting run is Richmond to Windsor, then
    Wilberforce Rd and Sackville and Old Northern Rds to the ferry on the right
    hand side of Wiseman's, then a while beside the river on Wiseman's Ferry Rd
    to Spencer and then to Central Mangrove, Mangrove Mountain Rd to Somersby
    and on to Gosford.

    The second will be a fairly full days work from Canberra - google maps
    display the way ok - HTH

    Yes, you can.

    Up, where the road gave way, you do a wee bit of a diversion in the
    industrial estate, but it's easy enough to see where you are.

  4. Thanks, Andrew. I wanted to avoid freeways and tollways altogether, so
    I'm going to try a slightly shorter version of your second option (Bell
    to Berowra Waters in Google shows the way).
