I used a little place identical to that, but in Bedford. My Bandit
was one of the last bikes he tested before the inconsiderate old git
retired, closing his business. Mined yew, the place we go to now is
very professional, very clean, has all the right kit ... but has the
    /right attitude/.

  9. Sounds more like a collection of Border farmers than the backbone of
    British industry.

Not all the traditional back street bike shops are run by cunts though.
It's just as varied as the modern, clean, super shops. Plenty of those
    are run by cunts too.

  10. Try a larger hook, better lure and more appetising bait if you really must
    go fishing.

I never said they were cunts, just old and smelly.

  12. It's an estate agents office now, just like all the other shops in the
    street that aren't take-aways.
Yep, he's a good chap that fellah.
'Russ, you need tyres, like, yesterday.'
'I know, I'm getting them at the BMF on Saturday.'
'OK, come to the office for your ticket'

    It's a bugger getting a booking though.

    'Hog says...
After checking the bike over myself at home, before I even think about
taking it in, I ride my bike to the MOT station. The tester asks me the
mileage, VIN and reg which he notes on a pad. He then asks me to do the
MOT test myself while he observes and tell I him what parts are newly
fitted as I go. While I work the brakes he operates the buttons on the
rolling road brake tester. He then takes a look around the bike to see
if I'm lying about the obvious condition of certain parts, or taking
the piss with tyre tread etc. He then writes me a ticket.

It will come as no surprise to find out that I've never had a bike fail
an MOT, but my bikes are usually spot on before I take them in.

Yes to be fair my Beemer was fit and ready to pass the toughest MOT.
There is an emissions check in NI which didn't seem to happen in GB?

I had my bike mot'd at my dealers[1] a couple of weeks ago. As I was
waiting for the bike to be done they gave me a free full English
    breakfast.[2]

[1] over 5 yrs old so not quite old fashioned
    [2] there's a nice cafe/lounge above the showroom

Any MOT tester worth his salt would adjust the lights and be done...
They do next door to us, unless the vehicle has a catalogue of fail
    points...

Kieth Manning is a good tester in the Reading/Wokingham area...

Well you'd lose as number plates have been part of the MOT test for a
while (July 2004 IIRC); so he gets bonus points being really wrong.
