Did BSA manufacture bikes with the shift on the right side and rear
    brake on the left?

Just curious. Someone mentioned this to be the case. I did have a 1960s
something BSA single (250?) but I couldn't remember.

  7. T500 and a couple of other early twins. They could be swapped from
right-foot to left-foot shift and vice versa.

V7s, 750S and the last convertible one was the 850T - IIRC what Gary
(Wesson's mechanic) told me years ago.

  14. They were built that way. However, they were designed so that you could
pull out the gear shift shaft, and stick it through the right-hand
casing, and the left-hand side of the frame had mounts for the brake
    pedal and linkage.

Some people did the swap because they were brought up on right-hand gear
changes. The other group that did it was racers.

  15. ISTR one bike (Ducati?) that at the time of the introduction of the
US mandate for LH gearshift ran a gearshift shaft completely through the
gearbox, with a splined end available both sides.
