Old and Dirty

  1. Ok so I'm thinking of getting old and dirty, having a go at vintage MX
Now although my garage seems to have a preference for Euro and Yank
motorcycles I think it's time to give Asia a look in.
And when talking Jap who better than Mr. Honda as a starting point
So I've sort of got my heart set on an Elsinore, CR 125 to be precise 1974,
parts seem available and plentiful in the US,
but there isn't a lot of complete bikes choose from so working out a fair
price for a goer is proving a little difficult.

Any advice on a reasonable price range for a decent runner?

Also how reliable are they when raced? what parts need
    strengthening/replacing regularly?

As they are only 30 plus years old I assume Honda quality should prove
everything's in tip top order, or maybe not.

All help appreciated and witty comments applauded

I can't be of any assistance on the above questions, however there is
a magazine aimed at Vintage Motorcross (Called "Old and dirty" or
something similar IIANM) I'd be betting you'd find a fair bit of info
there. If you're in Sydney I spotted it in Deus ex Machina in
Camperdown. If you're not able to get there and can't find it on the
web or in the whitepages or whatever (I have no idea where it's
published or by whom) you could try giving them a ring and buying a
copy over the phone and get it mailed to you
